Oil & Water Pump Drive

Usage:

Remove Oil & Water Pump Drive

Start By:

a. remove oil pump

b. remove water pump

Typical Example

1. Remove the two bolts, and install two 3/8" - 16 NC forcing screws to remove adapter assembly (1) from the front drive housing.

2. Remove bolts (3), and pull adapter assembly (2) and the gears from the front drive housing as a unit. The weight of the unit is 23 kg (50 lb.).

Install Oil & Water Pump Drive

Typical Example

1. Make sure the O-ring seals are installed on the grooves of adapter assembly (1) and put clean engine oil on the seals.

2. Put the gears and adapter assembly (1) in position as a unit. Make sure the drive gear is engaged correctly with the idler gear, and tighten the bolts to hold adapter assembly (1) in position.

3. Make sure the O-ring seal is installed in the groove of adapter assembly (2), and put clean engine oil on it.

4. Put adapter assembly (2) in position, and install the bolts to hold it to the front drive housing.

Disassemble Oil & Water Pump Drive

Start By:

a. remove oil and water pump drive

1. Remove oil pump O-ring seal (4) from adapter (3).

2. Remove washers (2). Remove adapter (3) from shaft assembly (1).

3. Remove O-ring seals (6) and (7) from adapter (3).

4. Use a press and tool group (A) to remove bearing (5) from adapter (3).

5. Remove bolts (9) to remove gears (8) and (10) from shaft assembly (1).

6. Remove O-ring seal (13) from the water pump adapter assembly (12).

7. Use a press and tool group (A) to remove bearing (11) from adapter assembly (12).

Assemble Oil And Water Pump Drive

1. Lower the temperature of the bearing for water pump adapter (12). Use tool group (A) to install bearing (11) into adapter (12). Measure the bore of the bearing (11) after assembly. The bore must measure 75.000 ± 0.055 mm (2.9528 ± .0022 in.). Install O-ring seal (13) onto adapter (12).

2. Put gears (8) and (10) in position on the shaft assembly as shown, and install the bolts to hold the unit together.

3. Lower the temperature of the bearing (5). Align the oil hole in bearing (5) with the oil hole in adapter (3). Use tool group (A) to install the bearing. Make sure the bearing is flush or below the outside surface of adapter (3). Measure the bore of bearing (5). The bore of bearing (5) should measure 75.00 ± 0.06 mm (2.953 ± .002 in.) after installation.

4. Install O-ring seals (6) and (7) on adapter (3).
