Oil Cooler

Usage:

Remove & Install Oil Cooler

------ WARNING! ------

At operating temperature, the engine coolant is hot and under pressure. Steam can cause personal injury. Drain the coolant only after the engine has been stopped and the fill cap is cool enough to touch with your bare hand. Remove the fill cap from the radiator slowly to relieve pressure. Cooling system conditioner contains alkali. Avoid contact with the skin and eyes to avoid personal injury.

1. Drain the coolant from the cooling system.

2. Drain the oil from the oil cooler.

3. Remove the bolts that hold elbow (1) to the oil pump. Remove elbow (1) and the tube from the oil cooler.

4. Remove the bolts that hold flange (2) to the adapter. Move the flange away from the adapter.

5. Remove the two bolts and retainers that hold tube (4) in the oil cooler.

6. Disconnect tube assemblies (5) and (8) from the bonnet.

7. Fasten a hoist and two straps to the oil cooler.

8. Remove bolts (3) and (6) and lift the oil cooler off of tubes (4) and (7). The weight of the oil cooler is 80 kg (175 lb).

NOTE: The following steps are for installation of the oil cooler. Also, make sure the tubes in the oil cooler are clean and free of dirt and foreign material.

9. Fasten a hoist and two straps to the oil cooler. Put the oil cooler in position on tubes (4) and (7).

10. Install bolts (3) and (6) to hold the oil cooler to the engine.

11. Connect tube assemblies (5) and (8) to the bonnet.

12. Install the bolts and retainers to hold tube (4) in the oil cooler.

13. Put flange (2) in position on the adapter, and install the bolts that hold it.

14. Put the tube and elbow (1) in position on the oil cooler and oil pump. Install the bolts that hold the elbow to the oil pump.

15. Fill the cooling system and engine with the proper fluids to their correct levels. See the Operation & Maintenance manual.
