Install Generator

1. Install vent fan (2) in the generator.

2. Install two 1"-8 NC guide bolts in the rotor hub. Put four shims (1) in position on the guide bolts.

NOTE: Plate assembly (3) is made up of seventeen separate plates.

3. Put plate assembly (3) in position on the guide bolts. Install six of eight bolts (4) and the washers to hold the plate assembly and the shims in position.

4. Remove the guide bolts from the rotor hub and install the remainder of bolts (4) and the washers.

5. Fasten a hoist to generator (5) as shown and put the generator in position on the engine.

6. Install bolts (7) that hold the generator to the flywheel housing and install bolts (6) that hold the vent fan and the plate assembly to the flywheel. If necessary, use tool (A) to move the flywheel to make an alignment of the holes in the plate assembly and the flywheel.

7. Install bolts (8), nuts (10) and the washers to hold the generator in position. Install enough shims (9) to fill the space between the generator and the supports. Tighten the bolts and the nuts.

8. Remove the hoist from the generator and connect shackle cover (11) to the cowl assembly.

NOTE: Check generator to engine alignment before Steps 9 and 10 are done.

9. Install two screen assemblies (12) on the generator.

10. Install drip cover (13) on the generator.

11. See SPECIAL INSTRUCTION, Form No. SMHS7259, for the correct procedure to check the alignment between the generator and the engine.
