Introduction
The 8T3250 3600 Turbo Tool Group is available to aid in the disassembly and assembly of the turbochargers used on the 3600 Family of Engines. This special instruction will identify the components of the tool group, and identify service locations that can repair or replace those components. This special instruction will also describe how to change the pressure relief setting of the 8T3244 Hydraulic Hand Pump.
Component Identification
All of the components of the 8T3250 3600 Turbo Tool Group are identified in Illustration 1 and the chart. The chart also includes the Asea Brown Boveri (ABB) part number. Some of the individual components identified in the group are not serviced by Caterpillar. Those components not service by Caterpillar, are available from ABB.

Procedure To Adjust 8T3244 Hand Pump Relief Valve Setting
The 8T3244 Hand Pump is equipped with a pressure relief valve. The relief valve is factory set to provide a maximum pressure of 57 876 kPa (8400 psi). In some cases this pressure is too low to get the compressor off it's seat. However, the pressure relief valve can be closed to get a maximum pressure of approximately 79 924 kPa (11,600 psi). Use the procedure that follows to adjust the relief valve setting.
1. An 1/8 inch Allen wrench that is a minimum of 280 mm (11.0 in) long is required. See Illustration 2.
Illustration 2. Dimensions of 1/8 inch Allen wrench required to adjust pressure relief valve.
2. Use a vice to hold the pump in position with the oil refill plug toward the top.
3. Remove the oil refill plug.
4. Insert 1/8 inch Allen wrench (11) through the hole, where the oil refill plug was removed, and into the socket in pressure relief valve adjuster (12). See Illustration 3.
Illustration 3. Location of pressure relief valve adjuster (12) in the 8T3244 Hand Pump.
5. To increase the relief pressure setting, turn adjuster (12) clockwise. If the adjuster is turned clockwise until it stops, the relief pressure will be approximately 79 924 kPa (11,600 psi).
6. Remove the Allen wrench and install the oil refill plug.
