Installation of D4H Bulldozer (3G8929) Spill Plates{6079} Caterpillar

Introduction

This instruction gives the procedure to make the dozer blade taller. The addition of spill plates will permit larger blade loads and reduce the amount of material spilling over the top of the blade.

Fabrication of Plates

NOTE: Use 8 mm (.31") thick, high strength structural steel for the following fabrications.

Fabricate the plate above using the dimensions shown.

Fabricate the gussets as shown in the illustrations included in this instruction.

Installation of Plate

1. Tack weld the extension to the top of the moldboard with the chamfered edge forward.

2. Equally space gussets behind the extension.

3. Tack weld gussets behind the extension.

4. Finish weld gussets using 7 mm (.28") fillet welds.

5. Finish weld front of moldboard using 7 mm (.28") fillet welds and grind weld smooth.
