Introduction
The 0R1160, 0R1161 and 0R1248 Remanufactured Cylinder Head Groups are now available for use on 3406 and 3408 Engine/Vehicle models according to the serial numbers given in the chart.
The Remanufactured Cylinder Heads have a smaller diameter bore, 40.45Ø (1.593"Ø) for the new 7W1645 Fuel Nozzle Adapter (1). The former cylinder heads have a larger diameter bore, 55.12Ø (2.170"Ø) for the former fuel nozzle adapters.
New fuel nozzles (2) have a recessed hex at location (A). (This is one of the major differences between the new nozzle and the former nozzle.) The new nozzle fits in fuel nozzle adapter (1), and 7W2315 Retainer (3) threads on the adapter to hold the nozzle in place. See the Parts Book for the needed fuel nozzle part numbers.
When a Remanufactured Cylinder Head is to be installed on an engine, check to see if the fuel nozzles in the original cylinder head can be used with new fuel nozzle adapters (1) and retainers (2). If the fuel nozzles from the original cylinder head look like nozzle (2) and have the recessed hex at location (A), they can be used with the Remanufactured Cylinder Head for that engine application. If the original fuel nozzles are held in place with a 7W1997 Clamp and 1T416 Bolt, the nozzles cannot be used with the Remanufactured Cylinder Head and the new fuel nozzle adapters (1).
NOTE: If a Remanufactured Cylinder Head is to be installed on an engine model that is within the serial number range given in the chart at right, fuel nozzle replacement may be necessary. Check the nozzles closely, especially at the hex area, location (A). New nozzles have the narrow recessed hex shown above.
NOTE: It is possible, because of a previous performance problem or other reason, an engine within the serial number range given in the chart at right, could have the new fuel nozzles with recessed hex (A).
Should it be necessary to install new fuel nozzles with the Remanufactured Cylinder Head, see the specific Parts Book for fuel nozzle part numbers.
Cylinder Head Installation
Refer to the specific Service Manual for cylinder head installation procedure.
Fuel Nozzle Installation
(1) Compression Washer.
(2) 9L9098 Seal (Carbon Dam).
(3) Fuel Nozzle.
(4) 7W1645 Fuel Nozzle Adapter.
(5) 2W1230 Bleed Screw. 8T0659 Sealing Washer.
