Usage:
Any of the 3100 Series Generators can be operated at any of a wide range of voltages for both single and three phase; 50 or 60 hertz. Generator rating can be found on the nameplate.
NOTICE |
---|
Exercise care when operating generator at frequencies and voltages other than ratings stamped on nameplate. |
The generators may be operated at 50 hertz by decreasing the load and voltage 5/6 of the 60 hertz rating. Three phase generators may be operated single phase by reconnecting and operating at 2/3of the three phase rating.
To run the generator at 50 hertz, decrease engine speed to 1500 RPM and decrease the voltage, using the voltage adjust rheostat to rated 50 hertz voltages.
When connecting for different voltages, the following connections may be left connected:
1. Leave exciter field leads (F1) and (F2) connected to terminals (F-) and (F+) respectively.
2. Leave voltage adjust rheostat leads connected to terminals (7) and (8) on the voltage regulator.
3. Leave generator lead (9) connected to lead (C) from the voltage regulator boost transformer.
4. Leave generator lead (7) connected to lead (A) from the voltage regulator boost transformer.
Loose connections in the terminal box can result in serious damage to the generator and external load and injury to personnel. After the generator is reconnected and the connections are double checked, retape all connections with a high grade electrical insulating tape. Always use new tape. Do not reuse tape removed from old connections. |
