Flywheel Housing

Usage:

Remove Flywheel Housing

start by:

a) remove flywheel

1. Remove oil from engine and remove covers (3) from each side of oil pan.

2. Remove the bolts (1) that hold oil pan to flywheel housing. Loosen the remainder of oil pan bolts (2) and let oil pan hang down from cylinder block.

3. Remove covers (4) and (5) from flywheel housing.

4. Remove baffle (6) and bolts that hold flywheel housing to timing gear housing.

5. Install two 1/2"-13NC forged eyebolts and fasten a hoist as shown.

6. Remove flywheel housing (7) from engine. Weight of flywheel housing is 325 lb. (147 kg).

Install Flywheel Housing

1. Install flywheel housing (1) and bolts that hold it to timing gear housing. Cut off bottom ends of housing gasket even with lower surface of cylinder block.

2. Turn oil seal ring in thrower (2) until opening in ring is toward top of engine. Install baffle (3).

3. Install covers (4) and (5) on flywheel housing.

4. Install and tighten all oil pan bolts.

NOTE: If oil pan gasket was destroyed during disassembly, it must be replaced with a new one.

5. Install covers (6) on each side of oil pan. Fill engine with oil.
