Crankshaft Rear Seal

Usage:

Remove Crankshaft Rear Seal

start by:

a) remove flywheel

1. Remove bolts (1) from baffle (2) and remove baffle.

2. Remove the seal ring from the groove of the thrower.

3. Install tooling (A) on thrower (3). Heat thrower with a torch while pulling on the thrower with tooling (A). Remove the thrower from the crankshaft.

Install Crankshaft Rear Seal


NOTICE

Do not install a used seal ring and thrower.


1. Heat thrower to 350°F (176°C). Install thrower on crankshaft and drive it into place with tooling (A).

2. Check the run out (axial eccentricity) of the sides of ring groove in thrower (1) with tool group (B). Total indicator reading must not be more than .006 in. (0.15 mm) as crankshaft is turned.

3. Put oil on the seal ring (2) and in the groove of the thrower. Install spring and seal ring in groove of thrower with the words "out or rear" toward flywheel and opening in ring toward top of engine.

4. Install baffle in flywheel housing.
