Some 3306 and 3406 Generator Sets may fail the droop circuit board which could cause KVAR imbalance when synchronized with another supply. This could lead to a reverse VAR situation on the genset and subsequent heat damage to the generator.

Action Required
This rework applies to 3306 and 3406 Generator Sets that have been fitted with the analog voltage regulator and 143-6906 droop kit mounting sub-assembly. The 178-3577 potentiometer in the droop controller has been fitted incorrectly. The potentiometer has been located directly behind the circuit board and can cause a short circuit situation and fail droop circuit capability.
Rework:
1. Remove the right access cover of the generator terminal box and the front access panel covering access to the voltage regulator. Removal of these two covers will gain access to the droop potentiometer and printed circuit board. At this point it can be visually identified that the potentiometer. is mounted directly behind the circuit board.
2. Loosen the circuit board by pinching the four locking tabs securing the circuit board and pulling it back away from the mounting panel. Remove the potentiometer by loosening the mounting nut and relocate the potentiometer to the same size hole approximately 100mm directly below initial location. The hole closest to the voltage regulator is the correct location.
3. Replace the circuit board on to the four locking tabs and secure in position.
4. Replace two access cover panels and return unit to service.
