The G3500 Series water cooled manifold riser tube flange to cylinder head gasket leaks. This started when the engine became asbestos free. Asbestos free gasket materials have a tendency to creep with heat, load, and time. The 8N7640 Non-Asbestos Gasket leaked due to creep and was replaced with a high temperature non-asbestos material, 1104789/">1104789. This material worked very well in the co-gen applications but developed serious leaks when used in the standard temperature applications. Engineering has now released a metal spacer plate with an integral molded high temperature Highly Saturated Nitrile (HSN) O-Ring bonded to the inner opening of this plate. Field tests have determined that this design will resolve the problem.
