NOTE: The information supplied in this service letter may not be valid after the termination date of this program. Do not perform the work outlined in this Service Letter after the termination date without first contacting your Caterpillar product analyst.
NOTE: This Program must be administered as soon as possible. When reporting the repair, use "PI3798" as the Part Number, "7751" as the Group Number, "56" as the Warranty Claim Description Code and "T" as the SIMS Description Code. Exception: If the repair is done after failure, use "PI3798" as the Part Number, "7751" as the Group Number, "96" as the Warranty Claim Description Code, and "Z" as the SIMS Description Code.

Parts Needed
Dealers will need to order parts for this Program.
- 1 - 0R6486 Control Group (for engines that are already delivered to a customer job site)
- 1 - 9X8085 Control Group (for engines in dealer inventory)
Action Required
Parts Stock
Remove all 0R6486 and 9X8085 Control Groups with date codes from January 1, 1995 through June 12, 1995 from Parts Stock. The date code appears below the part number on the box label and is written in NUMERALKOD format as shown below:
The date code appears in day-day/month-month/year-year order as shown in the example below:
In this example, the date code NUNUDA, translates to the first day of January, 1995.
Affected Product
1. Remove the existing ECM.
2. Install the new ECM.
3. Remove existing personality module from existing ECM.
4. Install the existing personality module into the new ECM.
5. Program the following with ECAP:
A. Change engine rating to match test specification number.
B. Calibrate boost, write FLS/FTS.
C. Write engine serial number.
D. Enter any other information into ECM (ie. customer selectable parameters).
E. Check for logged faults.
6. Run engine to ensure proper operation.
7. Check for active fault codes.
8. Stamp "KH" on engine block when rework is complete.

Submit one claim for all 0R6486 and 9X8085 Control Groups removed from Parts Stock.
NOTE: US and Canadian Dealers Only - When submitting a Parts Stock claim use 99Z00007 in the Product Identification Number Field.
