Correct Adjustment Of Fuel Shut-Off Solenoid Shaft Can Prevent Failures

Usage:

Engines With Scroll-Type Fuel Systems And 12, 24 Or 32 Volt Solenoid Shut-Off Groups In All Applications

Wrong adjustment of the shaft for the fuel shut-off solenoids has caused a number of failures of the solenoids. These failures can be prevented if the procedure that follows is used.

Procedure to adjust the shaft:

1. Make adjustments so the plunger is .44" (11.2 mm) from the flange face as shown in the illustration.

2. Adjust the shaft to the dimension shown in the chart.

3. Check to see that:

A. The engine high idle is correct. See the Service Manual.
B. The engine can be stopped from high idle.
C. The solenoid current is less than 2 amperes on a ammeter during engine shutdown.

4. If needed, make adjustments to the shaft until you have all three conditions in step 3.
