Use Insert To Repair Bearing Seat In Water Pump Housing

In the article "Use Insert To Repair Bearing Seat In Water Pump Housing", the dimensions given in Illustrations 2 and 3 to machine the housing and install the 5P7385 Insert are not correct. Make a note on your copy of the article to use the dimensions shown on the illustrations that follow. During a water pump repair, be sure to use a new 9N3033 Retainer in place of the former 4N1136 Retainer to hold the bearing.

The 5P7385 Insert is available to make a repair to the seat for the outer bearing of the water pump housings on the models listed above. The bearing seat can become worn in operation. It is necessary to machine the housing to install the insert.

INSTALLATION OF INSERT: Machine the housing as shown in Illustration 2.

Use the 1P510 Driver Group to install the insert in the machined bore. The slot in the insert must be in alignment with the oil hole in the housing. See Illustration 3 for the correct depth to install the insert.
