Usage:
3600 Family Of Engines
New bearing clearance specifications are used for determining turbocharger reusability. See "Radial Dimension" and "End Play" for these new specifications.
1. Mount a magnetic base dial indicator on the center section housing. Position the dial indicator tip against the impeller hub end diameter.
2. Move the impeller end of the turbine shaft up. Move the turbine end of the turbine shaft down. Set the dial indicator to zero.
3. Move the impeller end of the turbine shaft down. Move the turbine end of the turbine shaft up. Observe the dial indicator reading and record the reading as the "Radial Clearance Dimension". The specified "NEW" Radial Clearance Dimension is 0.43 to 0.61 mm (.017 to .024 in). The specified "MAXIMUM REUSE" Radial Clearance Dimension is 0.87 mm (.034 in).
1. Mount a magnetic base dial indicator on the center section housing. Position the dial indicator tip against the end surface of the impeller hub.
2. Move the turbine shaft toward the turbine end. Set the dial indicator to zero.
3. Move the turbine shaft toward the impeller end. Observe the dial indicator reading and record the reading as the "End Play Dimension". The specified "NEW" End Play Dimension is 0.10 to 0.20 mm (.004 to .006 in). The specified "MAXIMUM REUSE" End Play Dimension is 0.30 mm (.012 in).
