ENGINE NEWS, JANUARY 10, 1979, PAGE 1.

In the article "New Switch Assembly Used With Exhaust Gas Recirculation System" the chart does not give the correct information for 200 BHP and 175 BHP engines. Put marks through the chart in the original article. Make a reference to use the information in the chart which follows:

--------------- END SUPPLEMENT ---------------

Description of Change: A new switch assembly is used on the exhaust gas recirculation system for 3208 Truck Engines. The new switch can be easily adjusted for different fuel settings without the use of shims which the former switch assembly needed.

Adaptable To: The new 9N5252 Switch Assembly is a direct replacement for the former 9N5083 Switch Assembly which is canceled.

To correctly adjust the new switch, it is necessary to use a 8S4627 Circuit Tester, the 5P6577 Fuel Setting Tool Group and the procedure that follows.

... Install fuel setting tools. See the fuel setting information for the correct fuel setting.

1. Connect the wire clip end of a circuit tester to contact (X) of EGR switch. Put the other end of the tester to a good ground on the fuel pump. Move the governor control lever slowly toward high idle position until the light in the circuit tester just comes on, see the Illustration. Do this several times to make sure the correct dimension is on the indicator. Make a comparison of this measurement to the Continuity Check Chart. See the Fuel Setting Information for the correct fuel setting.

EGR Switch positions.

2. Do the above procedure for contacts (Y) and (Z).

3. If the measurements for contact (X), (Y), or (Z) is not correct make the necessary adjustment and repeat the above procedures for that contact.

NOTE: Carefully maintain governor control lever position while the contact housing adjustment is turned.

If too much adjustment is necessary, the load stop pin can be bent. Inspect the pin and make a replacement if necessary. If a new pin is installed, adjust contacts (X) and (Y) again.
