Usage:
All 3114, 3116, and 3126 Mechanical Unit Injection (MUI) or 3116 and 3126 Hydraulic Electronic Unit Injection (HEUI) "
2-Valve"
Truck Engines
A new injector seating tool group and injector seating procedure is now available to provide improved seating of injectors in the cylinder head brass sleeves. The improved seating provides a better metal to metal seal against combustion gas leakage into the fuel. The improved seating tools and procedures eliminate the need to ream new sleeves after installation. Used sleeves do not need to be reamed unless the seat area is pitted, eroded, or has excessive carbon deposits. The new 173-1530 Injector Seating Tool Group includes the NEHS0738 Tool Operating Manual that contains injector seating procedures for both Mechanical Unit Injection (MUI) and Hydraulic Electronic Unit Injection (HEUI) "2-Valve" Truck Engines. There is also an instructional video tape available that explains how to perform the injection seating procedures using the new 173-1530 Injector Seating Tool Group. The media number for the video tape is LEVN4732. The video tape is available through normal Caterpillar literature ordering channels. The new 173-1530 Injector Seating Tool Group and procedures are adaptable to all 3114, 3116, and 3126 Truck Engines.
NOTE: The new 173-1530 Injector Seating Tool Group is not for use on 3126B Truck Engines. 3126B Truck Engines have a "3-Valve" cylinder head and use a different type of cylinder head sleeve.
