Cracks In Phenolic Water Pump Impellers In Remanufactured Water Pumps{1364}

3406 And 3408 Truck Engines

The remanufactured water pumps available for 3406 and 3408 Truck Engines may have phenolic water pump impellers with cracks in the hub area. These cracks do not occur in all impellers. The cracks do not necessarily adversely affect the performance of service life or the impeller.

The following guidelines are used to evaluate impellers for reuse in remanufactured water pumps:

* Cracks originating from the impeller metal hub do not extend beyond the beginning of the impeller vanes.

* There are no cracks on any part of the impeller vanes.
