Correct electrical current measurements are easier to make with the new 6V4910 AC/DC Clamp-On Ammeter. The advantages of the ammeter are its small size with built in digital display, an internal (inside) power source and lower cost.
Illustration 1. The 6V4910 Clamp-On Ammeter.
Formerly, the ammeter was large and had cable connections. It also needed an outside battery.
The ammeter is simpler to use because you do not have to break the circuit to make a current mesurement. It will accept cables up to 19 mm (.75 ") in diameter.
-
- ... The liquid crystal digital display is accurate and easier to read than a meter with a needle.
- ... Four AA batteries are located inside the handle of the ammeter.
- ... The ammeter will read current from 1-500 amperes directly on the display. Above this (500-1000 A) correct the number shown according to the chart given in Special Instruction Form Number SEHS8030. Current under 1 ampere and measurements with .1 ampere resolution between .1 and 199 amperes can be measured when you connect the ammeter output to a 6V3030 Digital Multimeter, with a 6V6014 Cable (optional). The current will be read on the multimeter display.
- ... The jaws of the ammeter open with a lever so the conductor can be inserted. These spring loaded jaws close around the conductor to measure the current.
- ... The liquid crystal digital display is accurate and easier to read than a meter with a needle.
Illustration 2. In addition to the Ammeter, these items are also available.
-
- ... A trigger switch will turn the ammeter on. The switch can be locked. When the turn-on trigger is released, you will be able to read the last measurement for five seconds.
- ... The ammeter can be removed from the wire and the measurement can still be read. This feature is important in limited access areas where the display is hard to see.
- ... This tool has a zero control for D/C operation. Some of the specifications for the 6V4910 Clamp-On Ammeter are shown in the list that follows.
- ... A trigger switch will turn the ammeter on. The switch can be locked. When the turn-on trigger is released, you will be able to read the last measurement for five seconds.
Complete specifications are included in the Special Instruction SEHS8030.
In addition to the basic ammeter, the following cases and tools are available to protect the tool and for use with it. They must be ordered separately.
