Use 6V4069 Body Group To Remove Tapered Drive Sleeve

Usage:

3208 Engines Equipped With Sleeve Metering Fuel System

The 6V4069 Body Group can be used to loosen the tapered drive sleeve between the fuel system camshaft and the fuel system drive gear. The new 6V4069 Body Group replaces the former 5P2371 Puller Plate. At times, the former 5P2371 Puller Plate and two 1/4" bolts did not push with enough force to loosen the sleeve. This made it necessary to hit the puller plate with a hammer to get the extra force needed. To get clearance for the hammer it was at times necessary to remove the radiator. The new 6V4069 Body Group will push with enough force to loosen the drive sleeve.

Use the instructions that follow to break loose the tapered drive sleeve from the fuel system drive gear:

1. Remove the tachometer drive housing, the tachometer drive, and the washer.

2. Adjust the 2H191 Bolt until the 6V4088 Washer is in the fully retracted position.

3. Install the 6V4029 Body Group on the fuel system drive gear as shown. Tighten the two 5L4041 Bolts to a torque of 12 ± 4 N·m (9 ± 3 lb ft).

4. Tighten the large forcing screw until the taper can be felt to break loose or until the shoulder of the forcing screw makes contact with the face of the plate.

5. Remove the tooling and move the fuel system drive gear to make sure the taper is loose.
