Changes Have Been Made To Caterpillar Service Literature

Usage:

You will soon be noticing several improvements to new and revised Caterpillar Operator's Guides, Lubrication and Maintenance Guides, Service Manuals and Parts Books.

On the outside a newly designed cover brightens the appearance of these publications and speeds their selection from the shelf. See Illustration 1. A more legible typestyle and layout have been used, making product model number and serial numbers stand out more clearly. Some of the Parts Books also list the serial numbers on the spine. The covers are color-coded according to product for easier identification. The covers of engine publications are printed in brown ink on gold paper. Earthmoving publications are blue on tan, and lift truck publications are burgundy on tan.

All covers are made of a heavier paper that has been treated for improved resistance to grease and dirt.

Three minor title changes accompany the change to new covers:

* Operator's Guides are now called Operation Guides.
* The title of the Lubrication and Maintenance Guide has been shortened to Maintenance Guide.
* Operation, Lubrication and Maintenance Guides have been retitled Operation and Maintenance Guides.

On the inside some of the Guides will also feature a change in the page format. In the future you will be reading the columns vertically instead of horizontally as you have in the past. A larger type and a new type style combine with the change in page layout to make the Guides easier to read.

Guides, Service Manuals and Parts Books will incorporate the changes gradually as they are revised.
