Usage:
An application of 9S3265 Retaining Compound is now put on the threads of the compressor wheel retainer nuts of all new Schwitzer Turbochargers.
It is our recommendation that the 9S3265 Retaining Compound be used on the threads of these retainer nuts during reconditioning of all Schwitzer Turbochargers in the field.
Use the method which follows to put the retaining compound on the threads. Do not use retaining compound on AiResearch Turbochargers.
1. If the cartridge is already assembled without the retaining compound.
a. Put 6V1541 Primer on the end of the nut and the shaft threads that extend through the nut. This will remove all oil and grease.
b. Put 9S3265 Retaining Compound on the primer. The compound will work its way into the threads.
2. If the cartridge is not assembled.
a. Put 6V1541 Primer on the nut and the shaft threads to clean them, if necessary.
b. Put 9S3265 Retaining Compound on the nut and shaft threads.
NOTICE |
---|
Do not let the retaining compound get into the compressor wheel bore, because it can make removal of the compressor wheel difficult during future turbocharger disassembly.
|
c. Put a small amount of lubricant, such as Lubriplate, on the nut seat area on the compressor. Do not put lubricant on the threads.
d. Tighten the compressor wheel retainer nut to the correct torque value.
