New Water Pump Gives More Pressure{1361}

Usage:

3304 and 3306 Engines In All Applications

SUPPLEMENT: 11/27/78

SERVICE MAGAZINE, SEPTEMBER 4, 1978, PAGES 9 AND 10. The article "New Water Pump Gives More Pressure" says a Special Instruction will be available in the near future and will have a list of the parts needed to install the new water pumps on earlier engines. A Special Instruction will not be available for this purpose. A Technical Partsgram, Form Number SEBD2066 gives the needed information per engine arrangement number.

--------------- END SUPPLEMENT ---------------

Description of Change: A new water pump is used on 3304 and 3306 Engines. The new pump gives approximately 20% more water pressure inside the cylinder block than the former pump. To get the added pressure, the vanes on the impeller in the new pump are .220" (5.58 mm) longer, and the housing depth is .250" (6.35 mm) deeper than those of the former pump. The increase in pressure will decrease conditions which can cause cylinder liner pitting.

Adaptable To: The new water pump groups can be installed on all earlier engines, but other parts will be necessary for the installation. A Special Instruction will be available in the near future, which will give the other parts needed.
