Usage:
Early fuel injection valves can now be tested on the 5P4150 Nozzle Testing Group. The 5P7448 Adapter permits fuel nozzles with flat seats and the 1P1795 Master Valves to be connected to the 5P4150 Nozzle Tester Group. Since with this new adapter, all fuel injection valves can be checked with the 5P4150 Nozzle Testing Group, adapters used with the earlier Fuel Injection Test Apparatus will be canceled.
Use the procedure that follows to check leakage on the earlier valves:
NOTE: Use Special Instruction Form FEO11238, "Using the Caterpillar Diesel Fuel Injection Test Apparatus" to clean, check opening pressure, check needle lift specifications and for reconditioning purposes.
1. After the settings for lift and opening pressure are made, use a pressure 100 psi (690 kPa) less than the opening pressure.
2. Close the pump isolator valve and adjust the pressure with the gauge protector valve.
3. During a 30 second period, look for a change in the pressure. The maximum reduction in pressure is 900 psi (6200 kPa).
NOTE: The basis for the leak rate shown above is an estimate. Leak rates for used fuel injection valves are not available.
Typical use of new adapter on 5P4150 Nozzle Testing Group.
