Length Of Rod In Steering Brake Group Must Be A Specific Dimension{4100,4111}

Usage:

D3 Tractors and 931 Loaders

To adjust the steering brake on the above machines, use only the procedure shown in the Specifications section of the Service Manuals for D3 Tractors and 931 Loaders. The correct adjustment procedure is very important to brake operation. Follow the adjustment procedure in the sequence shown. Do not adjust components other than those talked about. If this is not done, the result can be problems with the steering brake.

Length of rod important to brake operation.

For example, the earlier 1K7854 Rod and later 1M1959 Rod (see the Illustration) have a specific length that must not be changed. When these machines are sent from the factory, the rod is at its correct length. This dimension is very important to correct brake operation.

During an adjustment of the steering brake, check the length of the rod as shown in the illustration. If the dimension is not 13.0" (333.0 mm), adjust the rod until this length is correct. Then make the brake adjustment.

Make a note of this specification in the Service Manuals for these machines.
