Usage:
The 5P7318 Distorter Group is available to remove .062" (1.57 mm) thick wear sleeves from the front and/or rear of crankshafts. With these new tools, a wear sleeve can be removed from the crankshaft in a few minutes with the engine in the machine. Also, the new tools will not damage the crankshaft. Damage to the crankshaft is possible if the wear sleeves are removed by other methods.

5P7409 Distorter--used on 3406 and 3408 Engines with Brakesaver--not a part of 5P7318 Distorter Group.
Removal of sleeve.
Procedure to Remove Wear Sleeves:
1. Install the correct ring in the space where the seal was removed.
2. For all engines, except the 3406 and 3408 Engines with a Brakesaver, use the 5P7312 Distorter. For the 3406 and 3408 Engines with a Brakesaver, use the 5P7409 Distorter. Use a .50" (12.7 mm) socket and a ratchet with the distorter. Put the end of the distorter in the space where the seal was removed. Turn the distorter to distort (bend) the sleeve. Move the distorter to another position and turn the distorter again. Do this procedure until the sleeve is loose.
NOTE: When a sleeve is removed from the rotor on a Brakesaver, the rotor must be fastened to the crankshaft with a minimum of two bolts. This is necessary to give support to the rotor.
3. Remove the distorter and ring. Remove the sleeve.
