Usage:
All Engines With 4N3986, 4N3987, 5N5692, 6N9294 and 3T6352 Alternator Groups
Description of Change: New regulator and field coil assemblies are used in these alternator groups. The new regulator assemblies have a higher voltage rating. They also have a resistor to make sure that the regulator never turns off completely. The former regulator assemblies at times caused a wrong indication to be sent to the light emitting diode in the Electronic Monitoring System panel.
A new field coil assembly is used in the 4N3987 Alternator Group. This new field coil assembly has a direct current resistance of about 19 ohms. It will decrease the possibility of a regulator failure in some applications. The former coil assembly had a resistance of 9 ohms.
Adaptable To: The new parts are direct replacements for the former parts as shown in the chart.
