Larger Valve Springs{1108,1101,1252}

Usage:

All Naturally Aspirated 3208 Engines

Description of Change: New valve springs, retainers, and spacers are used in the cylinder head group on naturally aspirated 3208 Engines. The new valve springs have the same spring rate as the former valve springs. The new springs are made of a larger diameter wire and also have a larger coil diameter. This gives a better resistance to high stresses than the former springs. The larger coil diameter for the new springs makes it necessary to use new spacers and retainers. Also, new fuel injection nozzle clamps are used to provide the clearance needed for the larger valve springs.

Adaptable To: The new parts are in effect with Serial Numbers 32Y74575, 90N54557, 75V7540, and 79V8714. The new parts are direct replacements for the former parts on all cylinder heads, except the 9N1107 Cylinder Head. The spring seat area on the 9N1107 Cylinder Head can be machined to a new diameter of 42.16 ± 0.25 mm (1.660 ± 0.010") so the new parts can be used. See the illustration. The part number for the cylinder head is on the cylinder head inside the valve cover.
