Washers Added To Prevent Broken Bolts In Stabilizer Rod Joints (Connections) On Rear Axle Housing{3260,3268}

Usage:

768C, 772B Tractors;
769C, 773B Trucks

Description of Change: A washer has been added to the joint (connection) at each end of the stabilizer rod that holds the position of the rear axle housing in relation to the vehicle frame. The washer is installed between the pin and the 9M1608 Washer on the end of the bolt that has threads. See the illustration. This will prevent broken bolts when the nuts are tightened, especially after the contact surfaces of the parts become worn so they are no longer parallel. The bolts will now tighten against the pins and washers instead of the bracket ears on the frame and axle housing.

Location of 5P8248 Washer in stabilizer rod joint (connection).

Adaptable To: This change is in effect on 768C Tractors 2X327-Up, 772B Tractors 64W155-Up, 769C Trucks 1X1334-Up, and 773B Trucks 63W460-Up, and is directly adaptable to all earlier machines. Two 5P8248 Washers are used per machine, one at each end of the stabilizer rod.
