New Connecting Rod And Main Bearings Have A Thicker Coating (Layer) Of Lead-Tin Overlay{1230,1219,1203}

Usage:

3406, 3408 and 3412 Engines In All Applications

Description of Change: Connecting rod and main bearings, which have a thicker coating (layer) of lead-tin overlay, are now used in the above model engines. In comparison to the former bearings, the new bearings will give longer service life before the lead-tin overlay is worn away.

NOTICE

The use 5B1161 Lead Wire, used to check main and rod bearing clearances, can mark (damage) the thicker lead-tin overlay. DO NOT USE 5B1161 Lead Wire to measure bearing clearances. In place of this, use minimum and maximum measurements of the crankshaft journal diameters, connecting rod and main bearing bore diameters to find clearances. Or, if desired, plastic wire (Plastigage) can be used between the crankshaft journals and the bearing to get approximate clearance measurements.

Adaptable As: Direct replacement. The former bearings are canceled, and if ordered, the new bearings will be sent.
