Plunger Movement Must Be Adjusted When New Rack Shut-Off Solenoid Is Installed{1259}

Usage:

All 3400 Series Engines Equipped With Electric Shut-Offs For The Fuel Rack

When a new shut-off solenoid (2N2384 Solenoid, 12-volt or 2N2385, 24-volt) is installed on the fuel rack on any 3400 Series Engine, the plunger movement must be correctly adjusted. The plunger movement must be adjusted to permit the rack to move to the "fuel off" position and so the plunger can move to the "hold in" position.

The solenoid plunger must move 15.7 mm (.62") to be in "hold in" position. See the illustration. To check if the shut-off solenoids is in "hold in" position, measure the amperage used by the solenoid. If the plunger is in the "hold in" position, the solenoid will use less than 2 amperes. If the plunger is not in "hold in" position, the solenoid will use much more than 2 amperes and it will get hot.

Use the correct Service Manual for installation and adjustment of shut-off solenoids for the fuel rack.

Plunger must move 15.7 mm (.62") to be in "hold in" position.
