Usage:
NOTE: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before assembly, all parts should be thoroughly cleaned in cleaniong fluid. Allow the parts to air dry. Wiping cloths or rags should not be used to dry parts. Lint may be deposited on the parts which may cause later trouble. Inspect all parts. If any parts are worn or damaged, use new parts for replacement.
1. Use Tooling (C) to install bearing (2) in cylinder body (7). Make sure that the bearing is centered in the bore.
2. Apply 7M-7456 Compound to the bores for lip seals (1). Use Tooling (D) to install lip seals (1) on either side of bearing (2). Make sure that the sealing lips are facing outward.
3. Install O-ring seal (9), backup ring (10), wear ring (14), seal assembly (15) and U-cup seal (16) in head (11). Apply a thin coat of clean hydraulic oil on the seals and on the wear ring.
4. Apply 7M-7456 Compound in the groove for lip seal (17). Install lip seal (17) in head (11). Make sure that the sealing lip is facing the rod end of the cylinder. Install four bolts (13) and the washers in head (11).
5. Position head (11) on cylinder body (7) and install bolts (12) finger tight. Put Tooling (E) in position on the rod assembly. Install rod assembly (8) in cylinder body (7).
6. Remove bolts (12). Remove cylinder body (7) from rod assembly (8) and head (11). Remove Tooling (E).
7. Install piston (6) on rod assembly (8).
8. Lubricate the threaded end of rod assembly (8) and install nut (3). Use Tooling (B) to tighten nut (3) to a torque of 8000 ± 800 N·m (5900 ± 590 lb ft).
9. Install wear ring (4) and seal assembly (5) on piston (6). Apply a thin coat of clean hydraulic oil on the seal assembly and on the wear ring.
10. Install cylinder body (7) on rod assembly (8). Install bolts (12) and the washers that hold head (11) to cylinder body (7). Tighten bolts (12) when the rod is fully extended. Tighten bolts (12) to a torque of 900 ± 100 N·m (660 ± 75 lb ft).
11. Remove the lift cylinder from Tooling (A). The weight of the lift cylinder is 350 kg (772 lb).
End By:
a. Install the lift cylinder. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Lift Cylinder - Install" for the machine that is being serviced.
