Tilt Cylinder - Disassemble

Usage:

Disassembly Procedure

Start By:

a. Remove the tilt cylinder. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Tilt Cylinder - Remove" for the machine that is being serviced.

NOTE: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before the disassembly procedure, the exterior of the component should be thoroughly cleaned. This will help to prevent dirt from entering the internal mechanism.

1. Remove the two bolts that hold pad and spacer (12) to the tilt cylinder. Remove the pad and spacer.

2. Put the tilt cylinder in position to Tooling (A). The weight of the tilt cylinder is 430 kg (948 lb).

3. Remove eight bolts (14) and the washers from head (13). Use Tooling (A) to remove the rod and piston assembly from cylinder body (10).

4. Use Tooling (B) to remove nut (6) from rod assembly (11).

5. Remove piston (9) from rod assembly (11).

6. Remove wear ring (7) and seal assembly (8) from the piston.

7. Remove head (13) from the rod assembly.

8. Remove O-ring seal (18), backup ring (19) and seal (20) from head (13).

9. Remove four bolts (24) and the washers from head (13).

10. Remove lip seal (23), U-cup seal (22), seal assembly (21) and wear ring (17) from head (13).

11. If necessary, remove ring (3) using the following steps:

a. Remove six bolts (5) and the washers that hold retaining ring (4) to the cylinder body. Remove the retaining ring.

b. Remove ring (3) from the cylinder body.

12. Remove lip seals (1) and (15) from each side of the cylinder and rod assemblies.

13. Use Tooling (C) to remove bearings (2) and (16) from the cylinder and rod assemblies.
