Pressure Reducing Valve (Pilot Hydraulic System) - Remove and Install

Usage:

Removal Procedure

Start By:

a. Install the steering frame lock pin. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Steering Frame Lock Pin - Remove and Install" for the machine that is being serviced.

b. Release the pressure from the hydraulic system. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Hydraulic System Pressure - Release" for the machine that is being serviced.

NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the machine. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide", for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids in Caterpillar machines.

Dispose of fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

------ WARNING! ------

Personal injury can result from hot oil or hot components.

At operating temperature, oil is hot and under pressure. Hot oil can cause burns.

Remove the fill cap only when the engine is stopped, and the fill cap is cool enough to touch with your bare hand.

Do not allow hot oil or components to contact skin.

--------WARNING!------

NOTE: Put identification marks on all lines, on all hoses, on all wires and on all tubes for installation purposes. Plug all lines, all hoses and all tubes. This will help prevent fluid loss and this will help to prevent contaminants from entering the system.

1. Disconnect hose assemblies (1), (3), (4) and (5) from pilot oil pressure reducing valve (2).

2. Remove the two bolts and the washers that hold valve (2) to the rear frame. Remove pilot oil pressure reducing valve (2) from the rear frame.

Installation Procedure

1. Position pilot oil pressure reducing valve (2) on the rear frame. Install the two bolts and the washers that hold the valve to the rear frame.

2. Connect hose assemblies (1), (3), (4) and (5) to valve (2).

3. Fill the hydraulic tank with oil to the correct level. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual for the machine that is being serviced.

End By:

a. Remove the steering frame lock pin. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Steering Frame Lock Pin - Remove and Install" for the machine that is being serviced.
