To tighten the main control valve mounting bolts, use the procedure that follows:
1. Tighten the three bolts to the following torque ... 40 ± 7 N·m (30 ± 5 lb ft)
2. Tighten the three bolts again to the following torque ... 105 ± 20 N·m (75 ± 15 lb ft)

Thickness of one shim ... 0.178 mm (.0070 inch)
1U-0471 Shim
Thickness of one shim ... 0.508 mm (.0200 inch)

NOTE: A 1U-0471 Shim (1) must be in contact with spring (2). Use the required number of shims to achieve a torque of 290 ± 10 N·m (210 ± 7 lb ft) with the retainers and springs at 75.00 ± 0.10 mm (2.953 ± .004 inch).
