Timing Gear Cover

Usage:

Remove Timing Gear Cover

Start By:

a. remove water pump

b. remove automatic timing advance

c. remove crankshaft front seal

d. remove oil pan

e. remove alternator

f. remove engine front support

1. Remove the bolts that hold timing gear cover (1) to the engine block. Remove the studs from around the cover with tool (A) to permit the timing gear cover to clear elbow (2).

2. Remove cover (1).

Install Timing Gear Cover

1. Put clean engine oil on the O-ring seal for fuel injection pump housing (3).

2. Put a new gasket (4) and the timing gear cover into position on the front of the cylinder block.

3. Install bolts (6) that hold the timing gear cover to the cylinder block. Put 9S3265 Retaining Compound on studs (5), and install with Tool A.

4. Cut the timing cover gasket even with the bottom of the cylinder block.

End By:

a. install engine front support

b. install alternator

c. install oil pan

d. install crankshaft front seal

e. install automatic timing device

f. install water pump
