Usage:

Remove & Install Radiator

Fluid Spillage Containment

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the machine. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids. Refer to "Tools And Shop Products Guide", NENG2500 for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids in Caterpillar machines. Dispose fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

1. Drain the coolant from the radiator into a suitable container for storage or disposal.

2. Remove fan and alternator guards (1).

3. Remove fan guard (2).

4. Loosen the hose clamps and disconnect hoses (3), (4), (6), and (7) from radiator (5).

5. Attack Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device to radiator (5) as shown. The weight of the radiator is approximately 86 kg (190 lb).

6. Remove eight bolts and washers (8) form radiator mounting brackets (9).

7. Remove radiator (5) from the engine. Be careful not to damage fan (10) or radiator core (11) upon removal of the radiator.

NOTE: For installation of the radiator, reverse the removal steps.

8. Fill the cooling system with coolant to the correct level. See the Operation & Maintenance Manual.
