Brake Adjustment

Usage:

1. Put brake pedal (2) in brake RELEASED position.

2. Tighten nut assembly (brake adjusting screw), (4) until brake band (3) fits tightly around brake drum.

3. Loosen locknut (6) and turn brake band support screw (7) until it makes contact with brake band. Do not tighten too much.

4. Turn brake band support screw (7) backward one and one-half turns and tighten locknut (6).

5. Make adjustment to rod (1) to get .030 ± .010 in. (0.76 ± 0.25 mm) clearance (B) between pedal (2) and steering clutch control plunger (5).

6. Make adjustment to nut assembly, (brake adjusting screw), (4) to get free travel of brake pedal (2) dimension (A).

7. Follow Steps 1 through 6 for the other brake.

(A) Free travel of brake pedal ... 5 to 6 in.(125.0 to 150.0 mm)

(B) Dimension that plunger (5) is from brake pedal (2) ... .030 ± .010 in.(0.76 ± 0.25 mm)
