Usage:
start by:
a) remove camshaft
1. Loosen bolt (1) and the washer that hold the fuel injection pump drive gear (2) to the fuel injection pump camshaft until the washer is approximately 1/8 in. (3.2 mm) away from gear. Do not remove the bolt at this time. Install tooling (A) on the drive gear. Tighten the screw in tooling (A) until drive gear is loose. Remove tooling (A), bolt (1) and washer. Remove gear (2).
2. Remove bolt (3) and lock. Remove idler gear (4).
3. Remove bearing (5) from idler gear (4) with tooling (B) and a press.
4. Remove fuel injection pump housing and governor. See REMOVE FUEL INJECTION PUMP HOUSING AND GOVERNOR.
5. Remove accessory drive. See REMOVE ACCESSORY DRIVE.
6. Bend the locks down. Remove bolts (6) and locks. Remove timing gear plate (7).
Install Timing Gears And Plate
1. Clean the old gasket from the contact surfaces of the timing gear plate and cylinder block. Cut the gasket even with the bottom face of the cylinder block. Put 5H2471 Gasket Cement on the bottom of the gasket where the gasket makes contact with the gasket for the oil pan.
2. Put timing gear plate (1) in position on the cylinder block and install the locks and four bolts that hold the plate in place.
3. Install the bearing in idler gear (2) with tooling (A). Install the bearing even with the chamfer in the gear bore.
4. Install idler gear (2) on the shaft. Install the lock and bolt that holds it in position.
5. Put accessory drive housing (3) in position on the timing gear plate. Install the three nuts that hold it in place.
6. Put fuel injection pump drive gear (4) in position and install washer and bolt (5). Do not tighten the bolt at this time.
7. Install the camshaft with the "C" mark on the camshaft gear in alignment with the "C" mark on the crankshaft gear. Install thrust plate, lock and bolts that hold the camshaft in place. See INSTALL CAMSHAFT.
NOTE: It will be necessary to check accessory drive timing.

8. Install fuel injection pump housing and governor. See FUEL INJECTION PUMP HOUSING AND GOVERNOR.
