Install Oil Pump And Relief Valve
NOTE: The rotors must have a replacement made as a set.
1. Install the bearing in inner rotor (6) with tooling (A).
2. Install shaft (2) in timing gear cover to dimension (Y) .860 in. (21.8 mm) from the end of the shaft to the bottom face of the counterbore in the cover.
3. Install bearing (1) in the timing gear cover to dimension (X) .344 in. (8.7 mm). Use tool (B) to install bearing (1).
4. Install inner rotor (6) and outer rotor (5) as a set only.
5. Check the clearance for the oil pump rotor tip (4) with feeler gauge (3). Rotor tip clearance is .004 ± .002 in. (0.10 ± 0.05 mm). Maximum permissible rotor tip clearance is .009 (0.21 mm).
6. Install cover (7), locks and bolts (8).
7. Bend the locks on bolts (8).
8. Check the oil pump end clearance with feeler gauge (3). End clearance is .004 ± .002 in. (0.10 ± 0.05 mm).
9. Install plunger (14), spring (10), guide (9) and sleeve (11).
NOTE: Be sure sleeve (11) is installed with groove (slot) (13) down as shown. After the clip (not shown) is installed in groove (slot) (13), the top of sleeve (11) must be .023 in. (584 mm) above the machined surface of housing.
10. Install clip (not shown) in groove (slot) (13) and install bolt and lock to hold clip.
