Rocker Shaft Assembly And Push Rods

Usage:

Remove Rocker Shaft Assembly And Push Rods

1. Remove the valve cover from the engine.

2. Remove the six fastening bolts for the rocker shaft assembly.

3. Remove the rocker shaft assembly (1).

4. Remove the push rods from the engine.

Install Rocker Shaft Assembly And Push Rods

1. Install the push rods in the engine.

2. Loosen all of the adjustment screws to maximum valve clearance.

3. Put the rocker shaft assembly into position on the engine.


NOTICE

The dowel pins (1) on each bracket of the rocker shaft assembly must be in alignment with the holes (2) in the cylinder head assembly. If the pins and holes are not in alignment, damage will result when the bolts are tightened.


4. Put 4S9416 Anti-Seize Compound on the fastening bolts for the rocker shaft assembly.

5. Install the fastening bolts in the rocker shaft assembly. Tighten the bolts to 115 lb.ft. (15,9 mkg) in number order as shown. Tighten the bolts to 175 ± 5 lb.ft. (24,2 ± 0,7 mkg) in number order. Again, tighten the bolts to 175 ± 5 lb.ft. (24,2 ± 0,7 mkg).

6. Turn the crankshaft until No. 1 piston is at top center of the compression stroke. Make adjustments to inlet valves 1, 2, & 4 and exhaust valves 1, 3, & 5. Turn the crankshaft 360°. Make adjustments to inlet valves 3, 5, & 6 and exhaust valves 2, 4, & 6. Inlet valve clearance is .015 in. (0,38 mm). Exhaust valve clearance is .025 in. (0,64 mm).

7. Put the valve cover into position on the engine, and install the fastening bolts (3). Tighten the fastening bolts to 15 ± 3 lb.ft. (2,1 ± 0,4 mkg).
