Flywheel Housing

Usage:

Remove Flywheel Housing

preparatory steps:

a) remove oil pan base

b) remove starters

c) remove sea water pump

d) remove water pump

e) remove crankshaft rear seal ring and thrower

NOTE: Engines 61P503-UP and 62P298-UP, remove the baffle and crankshaft rear seal

f) remove right air cleaner housing (Marine only)

1. On Marine engines only, remove left exhaust manifold water line. Remove the sea water pump water outlet line.

2. Remove turbocharger lubrication oil line (3). Remove turbocharger oil drain lines (1) and (4). Disconnect oil sensing line from turbocharger lubrication oil manifold.

3. Remove aftercooler water line (2).

4. Install a 1/2"-13NC threaded eyebolt in face of flywheel housing. Remove the flywheel housing retaining bolts and nuts. Attach a hoist and remove the flywheel housing-weight 390 lbs. (177 kg).

Install Flywheel Housing

1. Install a new flywheel housing-to-timing gear plate gasket. Trim the gasket flush with pan face of cylinder block.

2. Attach a hoist to the flywheel housing. Position the housing on engine making sure that gear on flywheel housing is engaged with oil pump idler gear and crankshaft gear. Install housing mounting bolts and nuts.

3. Install aftercooler water line.

4. Install right and left turbocharger oil drain lines. Connect oil sensing line to turbocharger lubrication oil manifold. Install turbocharger lubrication oil line.

5. On Marine engines only, install the sea water pump outlet line. Install the left exhaust manifold water line assembly.

concluding steps:

a) install crankshaft rear seal ring and thrower

NOTE: Engines 61P503-UP and 62P298-UP install the baffle and crankshaft rear seal

b) install oil pan base

c) install sea water pump

d) install water pump

e) install starters

f) install right air cleaner housing (Marine only)
