Usage:

Remove Water Pump

1. Drain the water cooling system.

2. Remove the water pump water inlet pipe (3).

3. Remove the two elbow-to-pump retaining bolts (2).

4. Remove the pump-to-timing gear plate mounting bolts and nuts (1).

5. Remove the water pump-weight 60 lbs. (27 kg).

Install Water Pump

1. Position the water pump engine, and install mounting bolts and nuts.

2. Install the two elbow-to-pump retaining bolts.

3. Install the water pump water inlet pipe.

4. Fill the engine cooling system.

Disassemble Water Pump

preparatory step:

a) remove water pump

1. Remove the water pump drive gear. Remove the four adapter assembly-to-water pump retaining nuts (1). Remove the adapter assembly (2).

2. Remove the thrust washer from adapter assembly. Using tool setup (A), remove the bearing from adapter assembly.

3. Remove the impeller and housing assembly (3) from water pump housing assembly.

4. Remove the impeller retaining nut, washer, and cotter pin. Tap on the shaft with a soft hammer, and remove the impeller from shaft. Remove the spring and carbon face seal assembly.

5. Bend the bearing assembly retaining locks. Remove the two retaining bolts, lock, and retainer.

6. Remove the shaft and bearing assembly from the impeller housing. Remove the O-ring seal from shaft.

7. Bend the spanner nut retaining lock. Using the spanner wrench (B), remove nut from shaft.

8. Press the shaft (4) out of the bearing (5).

9. Remove the ceramic ring seal and rubber O-ring seal from impeller housing.

10. Remove the lip-type seal from impeller housing.

11. Remove the O-ring seals from impeller housing.

Assemble Water Pump

1. Using tool setup (C), install lip-type seal in impeller housing with lip of seal toward the bearing assembly. Lubricate the lip of seal.

2. Press the bearing assembly on shaft. Install the spanner nut (1) and lock. Tighten nut with spanner wrench (B) to 65 ± 10 lb. ft. (8,99 ± 1,4 mkg) and bend the lock.

3. Position shaft and bearing assembly in impeller housing, and install retaining bolts, lock, and retainer. Bend the lock.

4. Wet the rubber O-ring seal, ceramic ring seal, and bore of impeller housing with water. Install the rubber O-ring seal in housing. Using hand pressure only, install the ceramic ring seal inside of rubber seal with the polished surface toward the impeller. Make sure that ceramic ring seal and rubber seal are seated in housing.

5. Wet the inside diameter of bellows on carbon seal assembly, and the shaft of pump with water. Using hand pressure only, press the carbon seal assembly on shaft until carbon surface contacts ceramic ring. Install the spring on shaft.

6. Position the impeller on shaft. Install retaining washer and nut (2). Tighten nut to 30 ± 5 lb. ft. (4,15 ± 0,7 mkg). Install the cotter pin (3) and bend both legs around nut.

7. Install the O-ring seals on impeller housing. Lubricate the seals, and install impeller housing in water pump housing assembly.

8. Using tool setup (A), install bearing in adapter housing.

9. Position the adapter housing on water pump, and install the four retaining nuts. Check the impeller clearance (4). Clearance between impeller and water pump housing assembly should be .021 ± .016 in. (0,53 ± 0,4 mkg). Lubricate and install O-ring seal on shaft. Install gear on shaft.

concluding step:

a) install water pump
