Timing Gear Plate

Usage:

Remove Timing Gear Plate

preparatory steps:

a) remove timing gears

b) remove water pump

1. Remove the accessory drive housing-to-timing gear plate retaining bolts and nuts.

2. Remove the four camshaft housing-to-bearing cage retaining bolts (1).

NOTE: The camshafts are removed for illustrative purposes only.

3. Remove the timing gear oil supply line (4).

4. Remove the camshaft drive gear bearing cage mounting nuts (3).

5. Remove the bearing cage (5). Remove the bearing (2) from bearing cage.

6. Remove the remaining timing gear plate mounting bolts (6) and locks.

7. Remove the timing gear plate (7).

Install Timing Gear Plate

1. Install a new timing gear plate-to-cylinder block gasket. Trim the gasket flush with oil pan face of cylinder block.

2. Position the timing gear plate on engine, and install retaining bolts and locks.

3. Install the bearing in camshaft drive gear bearing cage using tool setup (A).

4. Position the bearing cage on timing gear plate, and install retaining nuts. Install the four camshaft housing-to-bearing cage retaining bolts.

5. Install the timing gear oil supply line.

6. Install the accessory drive housing-to-timing gear plate retaining bolts and nuts.

concluding steps:

a) install timing gears

b) install water pump
