Crankshaft Rear Seal Ring And Thrower

Usage:

Remove Crankshaft Rear Seal Ring And Thrower

preparatory step:

a) remove flywheel

1. Remove the baffle retaining bolts and locks. Using three 3/8" - 16NC forcing screws, separate the baffle (1) from flywheel housing.

2. Remove the crankshaft rear seal ring.

3. Install tool setup (A). Apply heat to the outer diameter of the thrower with an open flame to a maximum temperature of 400° F (205° C). Apply a pulling force immediately and remove thrower.

Install Crankshaft Rear Seal Ring And Thrower

1. Heat the thrower in oil to a maximum temperature of 300° F (149° C). Install thrower on crankshaft using tool setup (A).


NOTICE

Oil throwers that have been removed are not reusable.


2. Lubricate the rear seal ring and mating groove with clean SAE 30 engine oil.

3. Install rear seal ring (1) with opening at top, and face of seal marked "out" or "rear" toward the flywheel.

4. Install baffle, retaining bolts and locks.

a) install flywheel
