A new optional (PSO) Parts Service Only engine software, part number 358-7833, has been released to reduce visible black smoke at high-speed and light load engine operation over 1900 rpm. This new software is applicable only to Industrial C15 engines currently using 580 hp at 2100 rpm D-Tier rating software that experience high-speed, light load visible black smoke. See Chart 1 for expected altitude derate with use of new optional D-Tier rating software. Reference Image 1.1.1 |

See Chart 2 for FLS/FTS adjustments required to insure engine power and torque are achieved with the new flash file. Find the Serial Number Range that the Engine Serial Number falls between; then select the FLS/FTS values to install into the software parameters using CAT ET. Reference Image 1.2.1 |

If results of the new PSO Software are found to be unsatisfactory, please refer to TMI for the original production FLS/FTS settings when switching back to original or latest version engine software. Please Note: Caterpillar will only take responsibility of flashing the new PSO Software. This is a one time occurrence. Returning to original software will not be covered by Caterpillar. |
