There is a potential issue with an optocoupler chip that is used on multiple PC Boards within certain UPS 250, UPS 300, UPS 301, UPS 500, UPS 600, and UPS 900 Uninterupptible Power Supplies. There is a potential for accelerated degradation and consequential premature failure of the optocoupler chip. |

The suspected PC boards should be inspected and replaced if the date code on the chip is between 0834 and 0911. Caterpillar will coordinate with the UPS manufacturer who will be performing the inspection, replacement, and the return of the old components. If the unit is not in operation, the PC board replacement should occur at startup. If the unit is in operation a time should be coordinated with the customer to allow for PC board replacement. Send an email to EP_Customer_Service@cat.com to schedule this job. Please reference this service letter and CPI # 232794. Provide unit model, serial number, unit location, and proposed rework date. |
