A new seal sleeve combination is to salvage a damaged crank.
The new seal sleeve combination replaces the previous 9Y-0810 Wear Sleeve. The new seal sleeve combinations and former seals are listed in Table 1.
The new seal sleeve combination is adaptable to the above engines back to first production.
The new seal sleeve combination will require the use of a new 563-9214 Tool Gp for installation. The 563-9214 Tool Gp can still be used for all applications (for seal alignment) with the seal riding directly on the crankshaft (with the removal of the center cone).
Note: The seal and sleeve should never be separated, if separated both the seal and sleeve should be discarded.
The existing kits available containing the original seals and the 9Y-0810 Wear Sleeve may still be purchased. The 9Y-0810 Wear Sleeve should no longer be used as decreased seal life will result. If a wear sleeve is required for the repair, then the new seal sleeve combination should be ordered in place of the 9Y-0810 Wear Sleeve. The previous seal part numbers are still useable as a seal only option without a wear sleeve and should be returned to inventory in the case the new seal sleeve is required for the repair.
Note: The original seals should never be used with a wear sleeve or reduced life will result.
Note: Removal of the wear sleeve from the crank can be accomplished with the use of the existing 5P-7312 Seal Distorter and 5P-7313 Distorter Ring material expanding tooling.
