The problem listed below does not have a known permanent solution. Until Caterpillar® develops a solution, refer to the solution below.

Problem

There is a growing need for video surveillance on construction equipment for enhancing operations management, safety, and lowering operational costs. Caterpillar does not have a validated solution ready in this domain yet. However, Caterpillar wishes to inform the customers of a third-party solution that is available in the open retail markets that may suffice, for customers who may wish to buy such a solution.

Caterpillar is aware of such a need within the customer community and is in the process of collecting requirements to develop such a solution for our customers.

Caterpillar is aware of third-party offerings by several suppliers that seem to satisfy market needs.

From the initial review of third-party solutions, Caterpillar believes the TrackEye solution by Exeros Technologies will provide a seamless video streaming solution to our customers.

However, Caterpillar has not validated this solution and hence does not endorse or suggest TrackEye as a preferred solution. Hence, under no circumstances, Caterpillar shall be held liable for any event that occurs due to the installation of this device.

TrackEye system typically has the following components:

  • Mobile DVR (Modem + Processing Unit + Digital Video Recorder + Hard Disk Drive)

  • Cameras, configurable up to 4 analog & 1 digital. An Ethernet hub is required to connect even more digital cameras.

  • Cellular Antenna

  • GPS Antenna

  • Wi-Fi Antenna (optional)

  • Cables to connect the system

The customer is expected to purchase a SIM card with a valid mobile data plan to enable video data transmission to the cloud server over cellular network. The SIM shall be of standard size as the MDVR is compatible with the standard-size SIM only. Other sizes of SIM card shall use SIM card adapters. Customer is responsible for the SIM card and is expected to pay the bills directly to the service provider to keep the connection active.

After Sales Support

Sales/ service/ distribution/ installation, warranty, and any other support related to this solution will be provided by Exeros Technologies personnel.

Installation of TrackEye on machines will require mounting brackets and harness pigtail to connect the power from machine to the MDVR. The additional hardware will either be provided by Exeros, or must be managed by the dealer and customer.
