New lip seal procedure is available for output transfer gear on Articulated Trucks. This procedure improves sealing of the bead of the lip seal preventing oil leaking. Use the following procedure to seal between the lip seal component and the gear group housing.

Apply Loctite 5188 compound (2) as a 3 mm (0.1 inch) diameter bead to the outer diameter (fillet radius) of Lip Type Seal (1) metal casing. Then press the seal into the mating gear group housing (3) as shown in Illustration 2. Clean off any excess Loctite 5188 (2) on components after installing. Refer to the Disassembly and Assembly, Output Transfer Gears - Assembly for your machine.

Note: Make sure that Loctite 5188 compound (2) compound does not come into contact with the rubber seal lip (A). The interaction between the rubber seal lip (A) and Loctite 5188 compound (2) would result in a failure.
